Chak De Hyderabad
November - December, 2007

Hyderabad, December 01, 2008 : Srisail Reddy Panjugula has appealed to the educationists, public representatives and social activists to pressurize the Government to introduce 'Peace Education' as curriculum in the schools.

In the present day situation it was necessary to teach 'peace' as a subject in the schools, he said presenting the report of the programme Chak De Hyderabad here on Saturday. He along with some of his writer friends launched the 'Peace awareness week' in the back drop of Gokul Chat and Lumbini Park blasts.

As part of this, his team approached 4000 school children in four districts in the State. The children, who were called as the future citizens of the country have seriously denounced the meaningless violence being spread by the terror groups. "The time has arrived when we must hear to the emotions, sentiments and aspirations expressed by the children", he said.

The expressions aired by the children in the form of essays would be brought out as a book so as to serve as an inspiration to the elders. The book would serve to mark the resilience demonstrated by the Hyderabadis in the aftermath of the blasts, he added.

Srisail vowed to continue the initiative Chak De Hyderabad to spread the message of peace and harmony as envisaged by the children in their works. Official Language Commission Chairman A B K Prasad and Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University vice chancellor Avula Manjulatha were present. Writers C S A Shariff, Sauda Aruna and Chandralatha spoke.
